Famous singer forced to wear wig for 5 months after drastic haircut failed

We’ve all had bad hair days, but Reba McEntire, was made to wear a wig for five months to cover hers, although it may not be all that it seems.

The music star, known for her signature long red locks, made a drastic change in 1996, which became a marketing plan for her album, What If It’s You. However, we all know the wait from production to release can be a long one. In this case, five long months.

The I’m A Survivor singer recently released her new book, Not That Fancy, and of course she had to include a segment on her iconic hair, including THAT decision to go short.

Before her bob cut that came up to her chin, the now 68-year-old was known for her “big hair” as she said it was so big, fans could recognize her just from her silhouette. But of course, that extravagant look didn’t come without hard work. In fact, she had to wear enough hairspray to “choke a horse.”

I didn’t just wake up like that. It took hot rollers, more hot rollers, teasing, and enough hair spray to choke a horse,” she revealed.

Reba revealed that she was desperate to cut her long hair for a while, but her team were “nervous” to make a drastic change to her signature look. They then came to a comprise, which was that it would become a marketing component for her What If It’s You album.

“I had actually cut my hair off in June, but the album didn’t release until November, so I had to wear a wig until we were ready to reveal the new look,” she explained.

She then debuted her new look at the Country Music Association Awards Show which she said felt “so good.” We bet!

27 years after Reba McEntire’s wig fiasco, the star’s short hair is still as iconic as ever. Just recently, fans of TV show The Voice went ‘wild’ over her new hairstyle.

The Voice judge recently took to TikTok to duet against one lucky fan, and as well as complimenting the singing, users were gushing over McEntire’s new block fringe.

“That look on you! I didn’t think you could be more gorgeous! Inside always. You’re slaying outside!” exclaimed one.

Aside from fans gushing over her, it looks like Reba has been doing some gushing of herself, over her boyfriend Rex Linn.

This week, she attended the Bring Change to Mind’s 11th Revels & Revelations event in New York, alongside celebrities including Ryan Reynolds.

Speaking to PEOPLE about her partner of three years, the country singer said: “He’s a very supportive man, I love him with all my heart.”

The couple first met at the unfortunate timing of January 2020, and living in different States meant they couldn’t see each other for five months.

Therefore, they got to know each other through texting and Zoom before finally seeing each other again in real life.
