Nicki Minaj wants the 'internet deleted' after disturbing Tom Holland deepfake

Nicki Minaj wants the “whole internet” deleted after coming across a disturbing deepfake video with her and Tom Holland. A comedy show featuring the rapper and other A-list stars debuted last December but one of the episodes has recently caught Nicki’s attention after the series launched in Australia.

The American music rapper is less than impressed over a fake viral video featuring her and Spiderman actor Tom Holland that made rounds on social media this week. In the AI-generated footage, which comes from an ITVX comedy show, Nicki Minaj and Tom star as a British couple who have returned from a holiday.

Nicki Minaj and Tom Holland’s deepfake goes viral

A snippet from ITVX’s comedy TV series Deep Fake Neighbour Wars made rounds on several social media platforms this week and caught the attention of Nicki Minaj.

The comedy series is combining “the latest technology” and reimagines A-list celebrities like “you’ve never seen before”, as per ITVX’s description on YouTube.

In one of the six-part episodes, Nicki and Tom play romantic partners who have just returned from their honeymoon still dressed in tropical-printed outfits.

Once they enter their home, the couple notices a strange smell and investigates the root of the problem. Tom says in the viral clip: “First thing I noticed was this horrible sort of boiled egg smell. Ugh.”

The couple soon realizes that they have an intruder in their home who turns out to be Mark Zuckerberg. “I’d not said more than ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’ to this bloke,” Tom adds in the bizarre clip. “Now he’s on my bloody sofa.”

Despite the original video being released in December last year, the Starships rapper has only now come across the fake footage and shared her reaction.

One fan decided to tag Nicki’s Twitter handle after the comedy series debuted in Australia and a snippet shared by the local broadcaster SBS Australia started trending online.

“Help!!!” Nicki tweeted in response after seeing the viral footage. “What in the AI shapeshifting cloning conspiracy theory is this?!?!! I hope the whole internet [gets] deleted!!!”

The comedy series originally debuted on ITV’s online on-demand service ITVX and all six episodes are available for streaming.

Fans are not impressed by the fake video

Many of Nicki’s fans are less than impressed over the viral deepfake and a number of them expressed their thoughts on the controversial video.

“I don’t like how they tried to copy your voice,” one fan wrote. Another commented alongside crying emojis: “I knew it was only a matter of time before you saw this.”

“History is going to be even more confusing af in the future,” a third user chimed in as someone else said: “Imagine the s*** that can get when someone wants to impersonate you or any other famous person, like? If it falls into the wrong hands.. no one is safe anymore.”
